In the quiet coastal community of Point Roberts — a place geographically attached to Canada yet politically part of the United States — two determined entrepreneurs revived a spirit of local production not seen in generations.

Businesswoman Noni Johansson, a native of Colorado, and restaurateur Tamra Hansen joined forces to create 2 Salty Blondes Salt Company, bringing artisanal food manufacturing back to the Point for the first time since the fish cannery era of 1917.

Point Roberts has always been unique. Surrounded on three sides by water and connected to the mainland only through Canada, this tiny enclave has developed a resilient and close-knit culture shaped by both American and Canadian influences.

Noni and Tamra, connected to cross-border lifestyles and entrepreneurial thinking, saw an opportunity to build something distinctly local while appealing to broader gourmet markets. Their vision transformed a simple kitchen staple — salt — into a versatile, premium product infused with creativity, personality, and regional identity.

Other varieties are crafted for gourmet popcorn seasoning, barbecue rubs, grilled meats, seafood, roasted vegetables, and finishing touches on elegant dishes.
